6th Grade Band Holiday (School-Day) Concert

Technically, there wasn't a holiday concert for 6th grade band on the schedule. They had a fall concert and then will have a spring concert in May. I am not sure if 6th grade usually plays for the December (monthly) elementary school Celebration, but I am glad they did do one and that I could run up to school and watch/record it.

After their concert was done they continued on with the School monthly celebration and she was the principal's assistant and got to hand out the awards to all the kids who were announced.

A few more still pictures I tried to get in between songs when he was announcing what was next. The elementary kids were all very excited when Mr. G announced they would be playing Jolly Old St. Nicholas. On Sunday, she will be playing Jingle Bells & Jolly Old St. Nicholas at a Senior Care Center. There are a handful of kids performing for the Sr. citizens there and then the club will be playing bingo and doing cookie decorating with the residents.

Bugsy Malone (Summer Musical) Clips

I got most of the songs that she is in, and a clip with some speaking lines for her. Her role was mostly singing dancing and she was in most of the musical.

THese are all in order. I think I just missed recording one of them, maybe 2. We did buy the DVD, so we will have that to show the family and Christmas.

5th grade Spring Concert (Choir & Band)

Isabel is in the back of the band in a turqoise top. She is playing the French Horn. This is her first band concert and they actually sounded fairly decent and when you consider they have only been playing together for 2 months then they sound really good.

I only recorded the band stuff, you can view the whole concert on http://www.owatonnalive.com/Medford-School-Concerts.html

Band Started

For the last month since she found out that they would be starting be on soon she has been getting with excitement about getting her instrument and starting lessons. They now have started today and she had her first lesson. There isn't anyone else playing French horn so she gets one to use at home and then has another one to use at school so she doesn't have to transport it back and forth which she is very happy about it.

They also sang The Star Spangled Banner with the 5th graders, but they were on the sides and everyone stood, so it wasn't possible to record that one.

As a note, in 5th grade they can start band in November. I don't know any more than that about it, so I will have to inquire.

4th Grade Spring Concert Pictures

At home before the concert, showing off how pretty she is in a dress that grandma M made her.

They do an Art Showcase as well and the art teacher picks a piece of art from each child during the year she wants to be in the end of the year showcase. Isabel's is from November and her pastels pieces has Chicago in the background, as we had just come back from out trip there.

The whole 4th grade.....there is about 75 in her class, just a few under that maybe.

Her class section, she is in the 2nd row from the top. One of the taller ones in her class.

With her good friend Sav (short for Savannah) .

OLYMPIAN was the elementary school theme for the year.

Little Piano Player

We were planning to start piano lessons with her this summer, but after winning a basket of beginning piano books from the school carnival silent auction , she didn't want to wait. We thought that since daddy was going to be a music major once upon a time and is so musical that he would start out teaching her. I talked to some piano teachers around us and they don't start individual lessons until age 7, but do have group lessons for ages 5-6. Although, the group lessons are general music lessons and not specifically piano, which is not what we wanted.

She has started to learn how to play Happy Birthday as well, for obvious reasons. She asked to learn it that day, so she wasn't very proficient for my birthday, but after a couple more times I think she will do well.

Kindergarten Christmas Concert

They sang 7 songs total and here they are singing We Wish You a Merry Christmas.
This is about all of the kindergarteners in her school, didn't quite get them in the frame, but there is about 65 of them.
Isabel is wearing her new holiday dress and the new glitrery flower hair ties I made her.

Hiking, Track & Field, Festivals, Music & Food

Tonight we went on a summer solstice hike at River Bend Nature Center with our friends Jessica, Sadie & Tristen. Isabel goes to preschool with Sadie. It was a lot of fun and we learned a lot and Isabel got to stay up two hours past her bedtime as it was about a 1.5 hour hike.

This was Isabel's 2nd sports class and tonight was track & field night. She had fun, but we have to teach that girl how to throw a ball and how to run with purpose. She runs like such a little princess; she has a spring in her step & sways her hips. It's cute but it's not going to win her any races.

We took the kids to Heritage Days. It was kind of a let-down, but we made do and still had some fun.

For Father's Day, Isabel had made daddy a few presents & a card (I made him a photo card) and we made hium waffles & sausage for breakast. He had a jam session with the kids, had a chance to clean his car inside & out (gave him some $$ to go get his car washed) then went swimming as a family and finally went out to eat as a family.
