Super Saturday

We started out our day with a trip to a (new-to-us) park for playtime & a picnic. Then to the barber shop for haircuts for daddy & Henry. Then the kids got to go to the candy store for a treat.

Then we came home and watched Gnomeo & Juliet while brother napped.

Then it was tim to play in the pool that we blew up & filled in the morning.

And in between all of that Isabel would play in her box house she made up. She had a "couch" and "bed" in it, some snacks, and a small couch & bed for baby dolly. This was all of her own creation.

And the day ended with roasted marshmallows. FINALLY! Isabel had been asking for about 2 months to have a campfire with roasted marshmallows and we have just not had good weather when we have been home, until now.

Ag Power & Fairgrounds Park

This morning we went on a tour of a farm equipment store, Ag Power. The kids had a lot of fun getting to climb in a combine, a tractor, on a flatbed, and on some of the lawn & utility tractors. It was such a great day to be outside for a tour.

After the tour, we went to the Fairgrounds park for some playtime and a lunch. It was such a pleasant surprise to be having a picnic on the ground when we almost 1/3 the way through November. This park is special because it's the only city park with climbing walls for the kids. Plus they have very separate little kids play equipment and big kids play equipment. And actually, some of the equipment here is meant for even older kids, so it's a good park to grow with your kids.

Gainey Park

Every Monday we have a park playgroup in the morning. This week we had a decent turnout of 6 moms and 13 kids. With some moms being back to work as teachers and kids going to different preschools, it's hard to get a time for everyone. But the Monday park playgroups are weekly, as well as Trinity Church Nursery playgroups on Friday morning. We try to schedule in another playgroup some other time during the week as well.

Stages Kickoff Party & Chutes and Ladders Park

Stages had a kickoff party for their '10-'11 season. Isabel had a great time trying on costumes, making a mask craft, seeing some animals, getting a tattoo and a bunch snacks. We also bought tickets to their Christmas show (this is something we go to as a family every year) and to Pinkalicious, which is in the spring. We may go to another show this winter, but we'll see how the weather is.

We had time to pass so we went to the Chutes & Ladders park. Isabel didn't want to crawl through as much without someone else. So, she stuck to the smaller one that I could see her in and then she played a lot in the little kid area with her brother.

Park Time with Friends

Here is a fun little collage of Isabel & Henry playing in the sand at Manthey Park with some friends. We played on the equiptment too, but I wasn't taking pictures then. After the park we all went to McD's for dinner, you can check out the collage from that on Henry's blog.

Preschool Playdate at the Park

Today we met other preschoolers, their parents & siblings from our preschool at the park. We had 19 people show up, which is pretty good. I didn't have out my camera, because a photographer friend was there taking pictures for a project she is working on for the city. So, I just snapped this last picture when Isabel wanted to climb the big rock at the park. The kids had a good time playing on the equipment & playing with sand toys.

Busy Day Out & About

The pictures you are seeing only tell (less than) half of it, the last half. She started out the morning going fishing with daddy for a short while, then home for lunch and then to the pool. After the pool it was going geocaching with mom, to the library (to pick up new chapter books in the series) and to Target, then back home to get daddy & Henry to go to a park to play and have a picnic supper and finally out for some ice cream (see Henry's blog).

Today will be a much more relaxed pace. We picked veggies from the garden (wholly cow there was a lot of yellow squash & zucchini since we had neglected it for almost a week) and will go swimming later and probably do some kind of kid's activity, but that's about it.

Humidity Hair

Check out her hair! This is Sooooo her mother's hair. If I didn't have my hair pulled back in a ponytail all the time it would be a full mop like hers. As it is, even with the ponytail there are what I like to call "my curlies" that are the shorts hairs around my temple that pop out and curl up & out giving me this blond ring (halo maybe?!?!) of curls around my head.

As you can tell, the sun is really lightening her hair quickly. We have been outside playing or swimming as much as we can. So, even I might end up with much lighter hair this summer. But both of us are not so pasty anymore either.

Last night we went to another concert in the park. This week it was an all-women's barbershop quartet. There were much fewer people there this time and I could count on our hands how many of those were under the age of 70 and we were two of them.

I think she was a little diappointed that there were not really any kids there to play with like last time. She really wanted to run around. Luckily, I brought some bubbles along and she asked to bring along sidewalk chalk. So, she kept busy while we listened. It wasn't really a concert you need to watch the stage for, so just listening is perfect.
