OMG, I laughed a huge belly laugh when I watched the movie. Thanks for sharing this. Just a question- how many words do you think Isabel knows by now? I am worried about my niece who is 13 months. Thanks! Allison
Well, what she "knows" is different then what she "says".
She says: hi, dada, mama, done, kitty
But she understands SOooooo much more......if I tell her to come here, she does.....if I ask her if she wants to eat/nurse she reponds in a way that lets me knows what I am saying & she wants it. If I ask her if she wants to read a book, she will come over by the books and chair. If I ask her where things are (i.e. dolly, Larry {also kitty or el gato}, doggy/puppy). Oh and she understands lots of words for foods or if I ask her if she wants to go outside.
She points to a lot of things that she wants. She babbles A LOT too. We aren't sure what she is saying, but it sounds like real words. We often repeat what she says with real words that sound like what she is saying.
She understands the give & take of communications and responds when we ask her a question, even if we are not sure what she is saying.
Language & social skills is something she has worked hard on from day one.
If they are working on one set of skills (like gross motor or fine motor) they don't work as hard on the others.
She has worked much more on language & social skill and her fine motor skills and less on gross motor skills. Which is wh she babbles all the time and is using utensils, but is not very close to walking yet. I have seen other kids her age who are walking, almost running, but don't talk as much as she does or maybe they have a harder time using a sippy cup or spoon. They are just all different.

It's hard not to compare, worry, or get jealous.
