21 Weeks Old

And I Go Walking.....After Midnight....
Ok, she's really asleep at midnight, but the song just popped into my head when I saw this picture.

This is a cute little Dora outfit that mom bought. It is a dress w/ matching bloomers. Also, some Old Navy tights she has worn several times and a turtleneck onesie I picked up at a rummage sale. We almost missed the window to wear this outfit. It's a size 12 months. I had picked out this other dress for her to wear today that was a size 6-9months, but alas, it was too small. Dresses are tricky since she is so long. I should measure her again here soon.

Such a Happy Baby Today

She woke up in such a good mood this morning, she even stayed in a good mood after I suctioned her nose for boogers (she's got some congestion going on, which makes for some interesting noises while she nurses.)

She stands really well, if we hold onto her. She likes to stand.

21 Weeks Old already....I think I say that with every week.....She is so unbelievably cute in this outfit today.

Friday the 13th

So Glad It's the Weekend

So, Isabel got to see snow for the first time on Wednesday. She just kept staring at it. It should be fun when we have so stuff that sticks and we can pull her around in a the little baby sled we have.

Her outfit today is a fleece one-piece from KO. I wasn't sure if it was jammies or an outfit. We have a green one too. I think we are going to use it as jammies because I like her being in fleece for bedtime and she has pretty much outgrown the sleeping sack -- just too long for them. And a lot of our other jammies are not fleece.

She has on some cute little pink lacy winnie the pooh socks.

Some of her favorite toys now have been linker-doos. She also likes this Discovery Toys Lamb teething toy & rattle. It has a spinning rattle in the center, a soft body, a head that squeaks, and legs she can chew on. And she likes this butterfly maraca (it came with a bunch of other animal/insect instruments, but this one has a different sound she seems to like.) She's not as fond of her bouncy seat anymore. She likes being able to grab toys and stick them in her mouth and those don't do that. Anything she can grab & move she likes, so everything in the picture she likes.

Another Happy Moment

She is not eating as much cereal & veggies/fruits as she was the past 2 weeks. I'm not sure why. She eats about half as much and when she's done, she's REALLY done. She seems to much rather nurse. We're not sure if she has figured out that when she is done eating solids she gets to nurse. She might have, she's a smart one.

No big plans this weekend for Isabel & me. Daddy is going to help grandpa M. paint some rooms in their house, but we're going to stay away because of the paint fumes. It looks like Sunday will be a nice day here, so hopefully we will get in a walk -- but other than that, no real plans. Next week, though, we will go visit Grandma & Grandpa S. and other relatives in WI. Mom has a couple of days off of work, so we are going to take the long car ride and go visiting.

Finger Lickin' Good

So, she's not a thumb sucker. But she certainly does get the 3 middle fingers in there. Sometimes just one of them; sometimes a combination of two of them, but usually never the pinkie or the thumb.

On Monday, while mommy & Isabel go to our Baby & Me class, daddy is going to a class to get certified in Infant & Child CPR. It lasts too long, otherwise mom would go. Someone has to nurse the baby to sleep and I don't think any of the cats are volunteering.

Thursday, October 12th

This Little Piggy
Todays outfit is some bibs from KO and a RL shirt (not shown, but you've seen it before) mom bought, plus a little lint in between the toes. These little feet are finally growing and we're going into size 2 shoes here soon. Mom bought her several cute pairs.

Today is 9 years that mommy & daddy have been together. Daddy sent mommy a very beautiful bouquet of red roses at work. Of course, mommy didn't remember. Daddy always seems to remember when they started dating and likes to commemorate it.

Bathing Beauty
She just hates coming out of the bathtub. She can get this bone chilling scream going. I even had a space heater making the bathroom & bedroom nice & warm in case it was that. It just baffles me, but she has pretty much hated drying off and getting jammies on from the beginning. She likes putting jammies on other nights and she is fine with the actual bath. Looks like it is time to bathe her in some other way, she's getting a little long for her baby bath.

Pictures from Today

Big Eyes!

I can't help it -- I find this picture adorable. It is now the background on the desktop @ home. Maybe it will even be the background on my work computer.

Here she is in the Carter's onesie mom bought (in was underneath the purple outfit below). It has 3 cute bunnies on the front of it.

She has recently really stated to kick around her legs a lot. Even in the bath too. She used to just lay there and let us wash her and she hardly moved. Now she splashes her arms and legs more. She's going to start liking playing in the water. I have so many bath toys for her to play with when she gets interested in them.

All Ready for My Picture Mom!

She has gotten to be such a pro at getting her picture taken by mom. She just sees the camera and starts smiling.

Another outfit from KO.

She is starting to have big girl poop now, and once she has a bowel movement she lets you know immediately and wants it removed promptly.

She used to hate getting zerberts, they seemed to scare her. But now she likes them and thinks they are funny.

Happy Columbus Day!

Such a cute baby! Yesterday, when Isabel & I went to the Co-op, some stopped me and said, "I just wanted to tell you what a cute baby you have." That was nice of them to say.

She slept very good last night. It has been a while since she slept the whole night through w/o getting me up at least once.

She is so ticklish on her back & neck. She likes her neck being tickled, but not her back so much.

Her clothes today are from KO. She's in 6-9month stuff now.

Tonight we have class and we are doing water play with the babies and then the adults talk about post-partum deprssion after the water play.

So, I get these emails from Babycenter.com and they send me weekly email about topics & surveys and a bunch of other stuff. Well, one of the poll questions was "Does your child have any step-grandparents?" Well, Isabel does not. So, I answered no and then they tell you the results off all the questions. Only 18% answered no, leaving 82% to say yes. I don't know why I was surprised by that, but I was.

Sleeping w/ Mom in the New Room

Dad Thought This Looked Sweet
Daddy saw us and thought we looked sweet and ran to get the camera and take a picture. We are in the recently finished sunroom/playroom & this is the new couch. Actually, we still have a light fixture that we are going to upgrade, but other than that it is all finished.

You Can't Tell She's Nursing Can You?
When she was nursing she was looking outside at the trees. She loves looking at trees, but she couldn't take her eyes off of them to fall asleep. So, I had to put my hand over her face covering the view and she went to sleep in less than 30 seconds. It was amazing.

We roll back the carpet and then she has a long runway to use her walker on. She enjoys that.

Even though you can't see the front of the outfit, the pants are something you have seen before, ut the top is from TCP and and some print about cheerleading on it.

Which One Should We Get Isabel?

Check out Baby Toupees. Which one should we get her? I'm thinking Lil' Kim. Do you agree Auntie Phanie? You're a big Lil' Kim fan!

We're really not getting her one, but it would be hilarious. Maybe after Halloween I should pick up some super clearance wigs. Freaking hilarious!

20 Weeks Old

I Keep On Dancin'

Dad says she looks like she is dressed from the 70's and wants a pair of pants like that. Grams S. could probably make her a pair. Grams & Gramps S. were very much stylin' in the 70's. They graduated in 70's & mom was born then. You should see some pictures of them. Some of those clothes were resued by mommy during homecoming week. There was an outfit of Grams that mommy wore for hippie day and then an outfit of Gramps that she wore for nerd day. Sorry Gramps, the plaid suit might have been hip in the 70's, but in the 90's it was just geeky.

So, this little outfit is something mommy bought. There is a little ducky on it holding an umbrella with the same fabric as the pants. Check out the bottom of the pants. Isn't that fantastic?!?!

Toys are FUN!
I replaced the middle toy on here because it was just too bulky. Usually she plays with this gym laying down on her surfboard mat, but I decided to put her in her seat. She sits up so well these days.

20 weeks old already. Every day just amazes me with her. She's 4 1/2 month old. In a couple weeks she'll be 5 months old. 4 1/2 month ago it seems like forever, but I guess that happens with lack of sleep.

Peek-a-Boo

She's peeking out from behind the toys. Her lips are just so precious! Just look at them. She is enjoying playing Peek-a-Boo these days. We play peek-a-boo with mom's nose ans she thinks that is hilarious. I checked out the book Peekaboo Zoo from the Library and she loves it. She likes grabbing the flaps. They don't make it anymore, so you can't buy that book new and I haven't had much luck finding it on eBay, but Lamaze does make some other peekaboo books. So, if any family is looking for Christmas ideas, there is one.

Happy Friday!

All Smiles!
Isabel is happy to be home (even though she likes daycare) and happy to get to play with mommy & daddy. She now likes mommy to put her up in airplanes, but not daddy so much. He might be a little too tall and it's a little scarier for her.

Daddy is happy because the HD DVR player just got installed and he is not watching the Twins play in high-definition. And he is happy it's the weekend. Mommy is happy about that too. It was just a full moon, so mommy was pretty busy at work this week.

I wish she would have smiled like this for her portrait @ Wal-Mart.

Her outfit today is a Baby Dior romper mommy bought off of eBay and a pink onesie and some nice little white socks. The romper is just pulled up her legs; it is really a full length one. She had on these cute little pink fuzzy Cinderella slippers I bought her, but they were already taken off.

No real plans for us this weekend, just need to finish the sunroom/playroom.

Here's the Outfit.

A little dress & matching bloomers and off-white tights that mom bought and some little black shoes that Grandma M. bought her (yes, they still fit, her feet haven't seemed to grow too much.)

I Should Just Take the Pictures

So, I just got back from taking Isabel to the portrait studio @ Wal-Mart. Not as unpleasant as JC Penney, but still no walk in the park. And I'm beginning to think that she just will not smile for other people.

So, at Wal-Mart they require you to do one shot (the first shot, but this can re-done until you like one, but once you delete it, it's gone) for the promotional package and then you are required to do at least 6 other poses, not shots - poses. So, the person needs to change positions 6 times. And they don't allow any crying baby shots, so we couldn't just have her in different poses and be crying. Also, they want the baby looking at the camera everytime too. So, those are the rules. They have other ppictrues & packages they try to push on you, but they don't really push too hard; they are merely suggestions that they tell you about.

So far the most pleasant experience was having Skye come here, even though Isabel wouldn't smile for her either.

Daddy has never really taken her picture, so I don't know if he could get her to smile for the camera. So, there might not be any pictures of me with her in which she is smiling.

I have portraits of me when I was 17 weeks & 5 months (these pictures for her are right in between those two) and I am all smiley. Actually, a very similar smile to the ones I take of Isabel.

The pictures are ready to be picked up in 3 weeks. If I would have just went last week like I was planning I would have had them to bring back to WI for my family. Now I'll have to send them again. I'll scan in a picture when we get them, but for now I will take a picture of the outfit (she's already out of it and getting ready for bed.)

Happy Tuesday!

In Awe
She is just in awe od the big baby on the screen. She is watching "Classical Baby" which we Tivo'ed from HBO.

The Grabmaster

You are no match for the grabmaster! Today's outfit is by Bon bebe and mom got it for her. It has a big fuzzy turtle on the butt.

Teething!

Waaaahhhh!
Actually, it isn't that bad. But this morning I was looking inside her mouth and you can actually feel those little teeth buds. They are certainly coming. My expectations of teething were much worse than what we are experiencing. Although, I am not letting my guard down yet. It could get worse. Plus, I am still a little freaked about getting bit for the first time and how that is going to play out.
She was pretty fussy at class last night until she fell asleep. We made talking boxes at class. It was ok. Our regular instructor for the adults was ill, so we didn't have as much discussion.

New Videos

This one is about 3 minutes long. She's just playing with her crib toy and making noises & sputtering. She is kind of abusive to her toy.

No big plans this week, just class tomorrow night. Hopefully mom remembers to bring everything. We are making talking boxes so we have to bring a shoe box & some pictures, well that is what the parents are doing when we separate. We have to bring our favorite book. We are bringing the book "Guess How Much I Love You". We got this book from our friends the Phillips.

This one is a short 30 second video of me tickling her. She is very ticklish around her neck (both front & back) and her armpits. She think getting her shirt changed is hilarious. She could be in a sour mood and then you change her top and she starts giggling. Her outfit is something we've seen before. Something mommy picked up.

I was feeling around in her mouth and I feel teeth there in the bottom front. She's been getting me up twice in the night to nurse. All she wants to do is nurse for 10-15 minutes and she is back to sleep. But I have read that sometimes teething babies do that because their teeth hurt and they want something to rub on them and the milk also has a sedative like affect (which helps them forget about their hurting mouth.)

19 Weeks

I'm a Big Girl Now!
Actually, that is some little slogan from a commercial, I think it's Pull Ups. Isabel is helping me type. She thinks it's fun to pound on the keyboard and here the clicking noise of the keys. She's also pretty amazed at watching mom type so fast.

19 Weeks already. Time is sure going by fast.

Let's Dance

She just woke up from a 2 1/2 hour nap. I would be this happy too if I could get a nap that long. I did get one for an hour today while daddy played with her. Today we are busy working on stuff to get the sunroom/Isabel's playroom in tiptop shape. Daddy is finishing the floor and I was woorking on her toybox/side table. It should look nice once we are all finished. We are still waiting for a call from the furniture store to say our stuff is ready to pick up. They had to order the barstools (which will go at the breakfast bar area.

Trying a New Food -- Green Beans

What the......

Daddy got the tail end of her face from the first taste. Apparently, it must be ok because she ate all of it.

Ok - I Can Eat This.
So, now she is eating rice cereal, bananas, carrots, & green beans. She only kinda likes the rice cereal, but if we mix it with something else she likes it just fine. She needs to eat the cereal so that she gets the iron. After about 6 months, breastfed babies don't get enough iron from breastmilk.

Start Reading Early

I read to Isabel every day. Every morning for sure, and then in the afternoon if she is up to it. I read her at least one book a day. Usually I read more when we just pick some up from the library because I am excited to hear what the story is about.

Now she is really starting to enjoy looking at the pictures and turn the pages and isn't very gentle, so I understand the need for board books. This is not a very attractive picture of me. You gotta love the spit up going down my shoulder. I guess I'll have to change before we go out tonight.

Learning New Stuff

Very Happy
She's not into taking much for naps these days, and so she wants to play more. I put her in this exersaucer that is in her bedroom. It's the kind that just has a try and you put your own stuff on the tray as you see here. She has the other kind with all the attachments, but that is downstairs. I think she likes that she can pick up her toys here.

Very Serious
She also likes that she can crouch down and suck on the pink edge or the endge of the fabric seat. Now I see why everything has removable cloth seats that can be washed. She's a drool machine. She also figured out that she can move around in the circle with the seat. She used her walker today (which I think she just recently grew another inch because she looks taller in it) and she was walking forward (slowly, but walking.) She wears her sandals with thick soles thats she got from her aunt Phanie when she is in her walk or the Johnny Jump. They were always too small during the summer, but now they work great when she wants to move around in things.
Get in my Belly!

Yes, everything goes in the mouth, except the teethers. For soem reason she doesn't pick those up and put them in her mouth. She will gnaw on them if I hold them to her mouth but she'll never grab them from me like she does with the hard toys.

Also, recently, she figured out more about eating and opens her mouth when she sees the spoon come. Daddy was very excited to see her discover that.

Ok - gotta go get ready for work now. No new outfit yesterday......

My Baby Looks Like Me

My mom emailed me this picture today that she found at my grandma's house. It is me as a baby with one of my great grandmas. When I saw the picture, I was like, "Wow! She really does look like me."

Teething

I think she may be starting to get some teeth in. She has started to become a mass prodcuer of quality drool and is even sporting a drool rash today. She got me up every 3 hours last night (I'm very tired today!) and wanted to nurse all afternoon once I got her home. She's been sucking on her fist or some linkerdoos like it's going out of style. She took 3 bottles @ daycare and didn't have any left for the afternoon (luckily mom picks her up by at a decent time.) And she didn't take any naps at daycare (it took a lot of work and a lot of nursing, but I finally got her to take one this afternoon.) Normally, she likes to play by herself a bit after she finishes nursing, but she was continuing to be clingy -- then I put some orajel on her gums and all of sudden she was just fine to play by herself.

The picture is not what she wore today. She had it soaked with drool, so I took it off and just left the tee underneath and put on a pair of bloomers. But the doll is new. I bought her her first baby doll. She decided to make out with it once I gave it to her. She was sucking so hard at it's face you would swear she was a teenager already. You can see she is kinda sucking on her lip as well.
